Each day in class, students practise their basic facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). In grade 4, students will learn basic multiplication and division up to 9x9. Practising at home will further develop these important life-long skills. Make it a daily routine!
Ways that they can practise basic facts are:
Flash Cards - an effective way to learn basic facts. You can pick these up for cheap at dollar stores.
Mathletics - website where students can work on the entire Grade 4 math curriculum through games and activities. The Live Mathletics feature gives students the opportunity to compete against other students from all over the world using math facts. Students should know their username and password for this site.
Math Magician - just a basic math facts website, where students can work on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They can beat their old time and/or old score. Math Play includes
Fact Monster - also a great website to practice basic facts - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division flashcards, from basic math facts to 3-digit problems. Students can also choose their level of difficulty.
